Tammy Blog Hop Begins!!! and a Giveaway!

I have done a blog hop with Madame Samm in the past and it worked out so well that I decided to jump on board with this one when I saw what a cute product I would end up with! Her Tammy bag is just the ticket for small projects or even a makeup bag! Here are my pretties made from her pattern.

So let's take a look at bag number 1.
I chose some Dragonflies by Michael Miller and a green Pear Tree print from Thomas Knauer to pair together. I love how it turned out! I chose not to do the frilly part in the pockets, but looking at it I kept thinking it just needed something extra so I came up with this.

I found a cute little bow pattern (sort of a bowtie noodle, if you will) here that I hand stitched just under the top of the pockets on both sides. I love the dragonflies. What does it look like on the inside? Well,...
There are two inside pockets (kind of hard to see in the picture). And what might I put inside it? Hmmmm, well....
Maybe a few skeins of yarn to crochet.
Then there's the second bag I made from laminate. This was some fabric I picked up from Hobby Lobby so no real name brands, but I wanted to make one for travel.
I love the Paris fabric with passport stamps.
Plenty of room for, well, for what really?
Why makeup, of course! And perfect for cleanup since it's laminated. Since the fabric was laminated, I chose not to do a bow for it, but I may go back and add straps to both since my frames had places for them.
Here's a last look at the two together.

GIVEAWAY!!!!!
Now, we have been doing VBS all week and I am totally exhausted so I almost decided not to do a giveaway, but I decided against myself!! I decided to offer up the fabric that you would need to make one of these little bags. It does not include the frame or anything else. Just the fabric. What fabric? Well, 1/2 yard each of the green Thomas Knauer Pear Tree and the Michael Miller dragonflies. The dragonflies went over really well on my last giveaway, and I still have some left so I thought I'd be nice and offer that up again.

What do you have to do to win? Just leave one comment. I'm too tired for hoops to jump through and we're only halfway through VBS!!

This giveaway will go until midnight on Tuesday, 6/18/13 which is the last day of the Tammy Blog Hop.  Open to US only. Sorry guys. Also, MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT A NO-REPLY BLOGGER. I am always amazed at the number of people who have no idea. If you never seem to get responses to your comments, you might want to check. I will draw a winner Wednesday morning and email the winner!

Make sure you go check on all my fellow blog hop bag makers (I know I can't wait to see what everyone else did!). Here is today's schedule.

Wednesday, June 12th

Melinda (me!)

You can find the full schedule here at Madame Samm's, and because I know some of you will really want to pick up this pattern, you can do that at Craftsy.

It's Giveaway Day!!!

Don't forget to go here to enter more giveaways!
It's here! It's giveaway day! Thanks so much for coming over to check out what I have to offer. I hope you stay to check out my blog; there's about to be some fun stuff going on in the next couple of months. I will be participating in the Tammy bag Blog Hop over at Sew We Quilt from June 12-18th so definitely come back for that. I'm working on my first bag now and it's going to be so cute! I'm thinking laminate for a second one. Hmmmm.....
So, what do I possibly have to give away?
I am giving away a half yard cut of each of the pictured fabrics from my stash. Wow, that was weird being able to say I can pull something from my stash to give away.
THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED.

The dragonfly fabric is a Michael Miller Bazaar print. The floral is a Robert Kaufman design. I will also squeeze in as many crochet dish/washcloths as I can fit in with it if you are interested. Just let me know if you want some if you win. And what do you have to do to win? Well, let's see...

1. Leave me a comment below. Looking for something to say? I am interested in any fabulous patterns out there in bloggy world that you are just dying to try. Personally, I keep trying to win the wonderful Aeroplane Bag by Sara over at Sew Sweetness.
2. You certainly do not have to follow me but, if you do, you are welcome to leave a comment for a second entry.
Follow on Bloglovin

Make sure you are not a no-reply blogger peeps! I would hate to have to redraw if I can't get in touch with someone!
I had originally thought I would keep it just in the US but I changed my mind. This is now open to anyone!

This giveaway will stay open until May 10th, 5:00 PST. I will do my best to announce the winner Saturday, May 11 so check your email!

***Update***
I really was going to try to respond to all the emails but I did not expect the number of responses I have gotten. I have never gotten this many responses for a giveaway. Please know that I am reading them all but I will be unable to keep up with responding to each and every one. Good Luck to all!!!

WiP Wedn..., What? It's Thursday?

(Don't forget to check out my last minute giveaway for the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day here!)

It has been VERY hectic around my household lately. The play I'm in (Madeline's Christmas) opens this weekend so it is tech week. That means I have practice almost every night this week (off today, thank goodness cause I'm EXHAUSTED!). I have actually gotten a bit of sewing done, though not nearly what I should have. So let's take a look at the week so far, shall we?
Block number 8 (?? I think) for Carpenter's Wheel...

I did a last minute revamp to my son's Diddy Kong Halloween costume to turn it into a costume for the organ grinder's monkey in the play...

the elves have been VERY busy...

and my daughter got to walk in the local Christmas parade Sunday as one of the Madeline girls for the theater because not all of the girls could be there. She had a blast. She has walked as a Girl Scout before and always enjoys giving out candy to the kids. She's actually giving some to her brother and my neighbor's daughter here.
When we got back to the theater, she was goofing around with one of the other costumes.
Does this mean she would be Madolph or Rudeline?

Giveaway Day... A Little Late but Jumping In!

Things have been so insane around here and I missed getting in on the beginning but I just thought I'd tag on at the end. How's that? What's being given away? Well, this panel:

It's Nest by Valori Wells. Here are closeups of the birds.

Sorry I cut the bottom off in the picture but I promise it's there. The panel is approximately 12"x 44".

I will probably add a little something extra, I'm just trying to squeeze in under the deadline! Interested in winning?

1.  Just leave a comment below for a chance to win. Need some ideas? I do too. I have an 11 year old girl and a 6 year old boy....any Christmas ideas?
2. if you're a follower leave a second comment for another chance to win.

OOPS! Forgot to add, make sure you are not a NO-REPLY BLOGGER or I can't get in touch with you. If you are or think you are, make sure you leave your email address in the comment so I can reach you!
THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED.
This giveaway will close Friday evening, December 7th. I will draw a name and post it ASAP Saturday. We have two shows for Madeline's Christmas that day so don't freak out if you don't see it right away! I may just need a moment to calm down!
Good luck!

Hey You! You're a No Reply Blogger and You Don't Even Know It!

I get very upset about no reply bloggers. Primarily because a lot of them don't even realize it (my own soon to be sister in law was commenting on my blog and didn't realize she was one until I told her that I couldn't reply to her). And then these individuals enter contests and wonder why they're never picked. It's because we can't get in touch with you! I hate drawing a name for a giveaway and seeing the name is a no reply blogger. It means I have to draw again because there is no way to contact that winner! So far this time I've only caught two on my Traveling Stash giveaway (deadline is Tuesday if you want to play!) but I wanted to give you guys a heads up so you can do something about it. So here goes:

Crafty Chrissy
Cindy Sharp
You are both "no-reply bloggers"! Please check out one of the following instructional posts on how to change it. There are tons of them on the internet but I wanted to post links to a few so you'd have a direct route!

If you are using Google +, check here.

Don't forget to check back Monday morning for the reveal post for my Mystery Round Robin!! I can't wait to share it with you all, and Michele will be hosting from her blog over at Quilts From My Crayon Box. She has a list of the participants and I will also have that list of links to all of these blogs so you can make sure to check out what everyone did and how their blocks ended up.

Look Out Foxy Loxy

If you're looking for my Traveling Stash giveaway, you can find it here. Come check it out! Deadline for entries is Tuesday, November 20th!

I was going to get some sewing done and post some more here but Little Man had different plans. Right after karate yesterday, he was complaining about his head and stomach. He ended up with a fever of 102 and got sick in the middle of the night as well. So guess who's staying home with me today? Hopefully the worst of it is over though!

Now, what is all this about Foxy Loxy? Well....
It seems that when society encroaches on the habitat of wild animals, wild animals sometimes don't pay heed to the boundaries. We have seen many a deer in our neighborhood (I've seen as many as 5 in our backyard at one time), and we've seen squirrels, rabbits, and chipmunks. You know, the usual crowd. But then there are those animals you don't usually see. Well, sometimes you might see some of them as roadkill (armadillos, raccoons, etc.) but we have started noticing a few "friends" in our neighborhood that we haven't seen before. Foxes. And I don't mean the cute kind like those that appear on Aneela Hoey's A Walk in the Woods.
These are real foxes and they have gotten really brave. They started out just being seen in the backyards around here but this is what I found when I came home today.
He was sitting in my driveway. And he really didn't offer to move until I almost ran over him. Oh joy. Now I have to be worried about more than my son getting hit by a car when he's outside playing...

You Too Can Win the Traveling Stash!

Today is the day! I won the Traveling Stash from Julie over at Distant Pickles, dug around and found what I wanted, and now it's your turn! Here's a view of all the goodies I found when I opened it up! Fabric and notions and goodies, oh my!
Now, what did I find when I went shopping in there? Well, let's just see, shall we?
I picked up 4 fat quarters (3 of which came from Julie...thanks, Julie!)...
and a little four pack of Christmas fabrics. I already had some of that white fabric!

And what did I put in to replace it? Well, I thought it needed some brightness since I took some away so I added some fat quarters...

and some more brightness including some Riley Blake Christmas fabric.
And since I was feeling a bit Christmas-ey, I decided to go above and beyond and add more than I took out. I included a project book called Fresh Fabric Treats, and two more pieces of fabric.

I added a few more fat quarters and a book. So what do you have to do to win? Well, first you have to follow the rules.

Rules:
1. Be an active blogger. Post about receiving the box and the giveaway on your blog in a timely manner.
2. There's a note in the box that logs where the box has been. Please add your info and place the note back in the box.
3. There's a list of Rules and Guidelines in the box. Please read and follow these and return the list to the box.
4. You may take anything you like from the box. Just replace every item with comparable quilt shop quality items equal to the amount taken.
5. Ship the box to the next person in a reasonable amount of time.
6. Due to the amount of postage shipping is only within the USA.

Are you in? Want to play? Here's what you need to do:

1. Leave a comment on this post. What do you see in the pictures of the stash that you'd like to swipe for your very own?  Any ideas what you might do with it once you get it? I'd love to hear your ideas.

2. Followers, old and new, get a second entry. Just leave a separate comment telling me that you are.

3. For a third chance, blog, facebook or tweet about this giveaway, then leave a separate comment telling me that you have.
This giveaway is now closed

The giveaway ends at midnight EDT on Tuesday, November 20th . I will draw the winning number on Wednesday the 21st. It looks like we're home for Thanksgiving so I will try to get it to the post office by the weekend. If you are a no reply blogger, please be sure to leave an email address so that I can get in contact with you if you win.
Good luck!!!

Sorry so Late Posting but The Day Got Away!

Today's the last day to enter my giveaway so head on over there if you haven't entered yet!

I have a squirrel in my attic and he's making me nuts...no pun intended. He seems to have found a way to get in and out because he's not always up there, but when he is it makes me a bit crazy. Hubby picked up a humane trap but it has only succeeded in going off without anything in it so far. And if you trap one, who's to say he didn't tell his buddies how to get in as well? And what do you do with them once you trap one? I'm still freaking out a bit about this whole thing. But the scratching... that freaks me out worse than anything.

*I told this to publish hours ago but I walked away and didn't check it. Darn Blogger sometimes! I will draw Friday morning!!!

(A Giveaway) When You Wish Upon a Star...

...sometimes it still doesn't get you to the Sewing Summit! So if you're stuck at home blessed to be at home like me, then there's an alternative pity party get together happening over at amylouwho's bloggy pad!  She's having a linky party that amounts to a "virtual sewing room" for those of us who are #notgoingtosewingsummit. For those of us who are slaving away in our home sewing rooms rather than the sewing summit classes, this offers us a place to check in and report what we've been working on this weekend. I'm not going to link yet because I don't have pictures, but I have actually made some progress. The last Mystery Round Robin block I had to work on has been sent out (though my completely completed one is still here), and I started on another Carpenter Wheel last night.

Also under the heading of #notgoingtosewingsummit, I decided to hold a GIVEAWAY in honor of all the sewists who did NOT get to go to Sewing Summit! Sort of a last minute thing but I wanted it to be good since some of us didn't get to go and we need a little pick me up. I went by my LQS the other day and came across these lovely charms. I was so taken with them that I went back and picked up a few for you guys. I figured a rotary cutter and a sewing machine resulted in a block so that's what I ended up with.

The blade on the rotary cutter is all silver; that's just a shadow (of me) on the right edge. If you want a good closeup of what they look like or if you're interested in more, they are put out by pinpeddlers. Isn't it adorable all put together? Interested in winning it?
1.  Just leave a comment below for a chance to win. Aw, what the heck...
2. if you're a follower leave a second comment for another chance to win.
3. If you tweet, blog, or FB it, you can leave another comment. Have I exhausted everything? Gosh, I hope so!
OOPS! Forgot to add, make sure you are not a NO-REPLY BLOGGER or I can't get in touch with you. If you are or think you are, make sure you leave your email address in the comment so I can reach you!

I'll leave it open until 10/18, and I will pick a winner Friday morning so I can send it to it's new home. This is open internationally! It's light enough that it ought not be too expensive to send. Good luck!
This giveaway is closed!

SMS Giveaway Winner!

I can now say I have officially participated in the Sew, Mama, Sew Giveaway! It was fun, but like many of the other blogs doing giveaways, I may have to rethink writing replies to every single comment. If there were two comments from one person, I tried to just send one reply, but even that got overwhelming. That is not to say that I don't appreciate each and every one of those comments though. I really do plan on sitting down and looking at the suggested fabric lines with which I was not familiar. You guys had some great suggestions...and I have a winner! I fed the numbers into Random Generator and it spit out...

Number 180! This was "SewFrench" who said:

Congratulations to Lori (I found out her name from her blog) and thank all of you for playing! I have contacted her and will be sending out her goodies as soon as I receive her snail mail!

Need something else to do? I mentioned the other day that I am participating in Pay It Forward with Clover & Violet so keep an eye out for that post.  I've been wanting to participate in one for a while and I finally caught one before it was full! I will probably post it sometime in the next two days.

I'm so Excited... It's Giveaway Day!

WINNER IS LORI AT SEWFRENCH.COM!!!

I'm participating in Giveaway Day!
*****UPDATE*****
If you do not leave me a way to contact you, your name will NOT be drawn! I have no less than 9 no-reply bloggers comments so far. PLEASE, if you want to win, leave me your email in the comment.
And what may you ask might I be giving away? Well, I'm so glad you asked!
First we have some fabric! There are three fat quarters; one is an Anthology print and one is Nature's Glow by Ro Gregg. These have been pre-washed. There is another fat quarter which is a floral (NOT prewashed) and a piece of Ambrosia by Robert Kaufman I cut from my leftovers which is about 13" x 28" (also NOT prewashed).  There are 4 patterns and two packs of Class 15 Bobbins.
There is April Showers by Pearl Louise Designs (an 11" x 23" Banner),

Snowflakes in the Stars Table Runner (17.5" x 52"),

Don't Make me Call the Flying Monkeys by Terrie Eskew,

and Black Red White by Marinda Stewart (40" x 55") for Michael Miller Fabrics.
Sorry for the loveliness of the pictures. They were taken with my dumbphone because I was in a hurry to get this done and I didn't have time to reduce pics from my regular camera.
Want to win some goodies? Just leave me a comment below for one entry, maybe telling me your favorite new line of fabric since quilt market just ended. I am not requiring that you be a follower to enter, but if you ARE a follower, you are welcome to a second entry.
Here are the ground rules:
This giveaway closes Friday, May 25th at 5:00 p.m. I will send to the US and Canada only. Sorry international readers! I'm participating in several things right now so trying to keep my costs down. I just realized I screwed it up and put it in the wrong place on the Sew, Mama, Sew list so, if you are international, I will send to you! My mistake.
THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED. WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED.
Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you will come back if you're a newbie!

Here it Comes...Giveaway Day!

Remember the other day when I mentioned that Sew, Mama, Sew should be posting about their May Giveaway Day soon? Well, today is the day! Check out their post today to see all the details. The May Giveaway Day will happen on May 21st so start getting your stuff together to share with a lucky bloggy friend! Gotta start thinking what I might be putting up for grabs!
Sew, Mama, Sew Giveaway Day
Speaking of giveaways, I found out this morning that I won some Kona solids from Hollie over at The Undercover Crafter! Yay!

I've also been working on my sister's iPad case. She wants a zipper topped with a handle/strap so I'm combining some ideas to get it done. I decided to put a quilt block on it as well. I will post more about it tomorrow when she decides what color she wants the base of it to be.

A Pink Panda Pillow ...and a Giveaway!!

I have been sick this weekend and had trouble getting to this post to get it online but here it (finally!) goes.

I have been doing a little around here trying to get motivation back. I finished my April block for the Round Robin Mystery Mini and got it sent off. The May block is also finished (the first person sent it early) but I thought I'd hold onto it for just a bit so the next person isn't overwhelmed.
I also have both kids going to birthday slumber parties tonight so I've been doing some last minute crafting. My daughter is going next door to the "girl" house (3 daughters) and I always make them stuff. Their mom and I joke that we are our kids' other moms so I always think I should do stuff for them. I found out that this particular daughter has a collection of pandas so I went to PiecebyNumber for their paper pieced panda here. Let's just say, when paper piecing one should not rush. I can't tell you how many mistakes went into this piece, but it's finally done.

I didn't have time to add the bamboo. I just whipped up a pillow for her. So what do you get when you have a girl that likes pink and pandas? Why a pink panda pillow, of course!
I thought it turned out pretty cute and I think she'll like it. Considering I finished it 2 hours before my daughter had to take it to the party, I was cutting it close.I also found out that I did not win the Accuquilt barn quilt contest but congrats to the winners. Their blocks are gorgeous!
I had also planned a giveaway for my 1 year blogiversary but we are now a month out from that so I am way overdo. I even have it in a box ready to go...I just needed to get it done so without further ado...

To celebrate my one year and one month blogiversary, I am giving away a self made charm pack of leftovers from my boy twin quilt and a TMQ binding tool.

The charm pack is made up of leftovers from my boy twin quilt so you are getting some Dr. Seuss fabrics, some Fairy Tale Friends by Moda and a few other prints. I bought two binding tools; one for me and one for you. I used mine on the boy twin quilt and I loved it. There's a great video by the Missouri Star Quilt Co. on youtube to show you how to use it.

This giveaway will stay open through 9 pm EST Saturday 5/5/12 and a winner will be announced on May 6th. This contest is open to United States and Canada only. Sorry international! This all comes out of my pocket (or hubby's, rather, since I'm not working right now!).

*THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED.

To enter...
1) Leave one comment below for a single entry.
2) Be a follower for a second entry.
3) If you post about it in any way (blog post, tweet, etc), leave a third entry.

That's it! Good luck, and happy (very late) blogiversary to me!
