Giveaway Day... A Little Late but Jumping In!

Things have been so insane around here and I missed getting in on the beginning but I just thought I'd tag on at the end. How's that? What's being given away? Well, this panel:

It's Nest by Valori Wells. Here are closeups of the birds.

Sorry I cut the bottom off in the picture but I promise it's there. The panel is approximately 12"x 44".

I will probably add a little something extra, I'm just trying to squeeze in under the deadline! Interested in winning?

1.  Just leave a comment below for a chance to win. Need some ideas? I do too. I have an 11 year old girl and a 6 year old boy....any Christmas ideas?
2. if you're a follower leave a second comment for another chance to win.

OOPS! Forgot to add, make sure you are not a NO-REPLY BLOGGER or I can't get in touch with you. If you are or think you are, make sure you leave your email address in the comment so I can reach you!
THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED.
This giveaway will close Friday evening, December 7th. I will draw a name and post it ASAP Saturday. We have two shows for Madeline's Christmas that day so don't freak out if you don't see it right away! I may just need a moment to calm down!
Good luck!

How about a story book or a new pet for your girl and a toy for your son :D

I suggest a box bag for the boy, add a handle and its peferct for legos, small cars, or action figures. Ac ouple would work well. Make some for the girl. Use appropriate fabrics-great for hair stuff, girl notes, etc

I've never seen fabric like that. It is beautiful. I am imagining how stunning it would look quilted.

For a little boy I suggest an Air Hogs brand helicopter. They sell them at Target and Amazon at reasonable prices. They are lots of fun--my husband loves them!

Ooooh! I'm the first to post lol!
Since I don't have any kids myself I always find gifts for them tricky. Got a 9 year old brother and he's sooo difficult to find something for. But he started to dig Star Wars now, so that makes it a bit easier ;)
Thanks for this giveaway! What a beautiful panel!

I just happen to have some fabrics from this line that I have no idea what to do with. They would look great framing this panel.
I have a niece that is almost 11 and I'm getting her a cribbage set. She loves checkers so I think it cribbage would be a good game for her to sharpen her math skills and I think it's way more fun than checkers. Also, I'm adding some fun playing cards and I made a custom journal for her on an online site and it turned out SO cute!

Great giveaway. For either of the kids you could make a pillowcase - choosing fabric special to them. I made my grandson one for his birthday and made it with the 3D fabric; he was thrilled!

Super hero capes? I sewed my husband one up (lol) and he loved it. Good for all ages!

How pretty! I'm glad you jumped in.

I always give books to kids for Christmas. A Wrinkle In Time is a great choice for those ages.

Heather A said...

Honestly, I'm a little out of the loop as to what kids that age are into. It doesn't get any better for me, though, because my kids are 22 and 25 and I still don't know what to get them.

As for kid gifts, I'm so bad at it. Having none of my own, and being a strange wacky kid growing up, I have no idea! I give my nieces and nephews gift cards so that they have the fun of picking out exactly what they want. :) They then send me email saying what they got with their giftcards, or post instragram photos. :) So we're all happy!

lucia said...

I like to give classic toys and books when I can- especially books. But lego is always a hit with boys that age and a craft kit would be great for the 11 year old. I just saw a lovely one in a store today by Alex- it comes in a felt bag and then gives you all of the tools to do the embroidery. Good luck! Thanks for the great giveaway!

I have a 6yo boy and to my surprise, he loves board games and puzzles. I bought him a dice game, Army v. Aliens, and I'm thinking of getting him a Rubik's cube or something to keep his hands occupied with other than a video game. And of course, tattoo or nail art for the 11yo.

The Nest panel is beautiful! Does your son like Hexbugs? I have a daughter the same age and all the boys in her class are mad for Hexbugs.

Unknown said...

That's a beautiful panel! Thanks for the opportunity to enter :)
What I like for a girl is a wooden picture frame that you can paint, maybe add a few painted flowers, whatever you like. Then use triplex in the frame that you cover with batting and a nice fabric. She can use it to pin cards to or other things she likes :)

baukje said...

For the girl there are so many items, handmade totes, knitted cowls, (they love them) with a pair of handknit mittens....
For a boy a teeshirt with his favorite car or TV hero.

Deb@asimplelifequilts said...

Beautiful panel! I used to always buy books for my kids... Santa brought their toys ;-) and my family too it seemed. Thanks for a great giveaway~!

Heather said...

I have no idea about 11 year old girls, my boys are 9,7 and 6. But I vaguely remember loving to make crafty items like friendship bracelets. Also I read a lot, so if you were thinking of handcrafting, maybe a journal with fabric cover. I've seen some of the 80s coming back, if you knit maybe some leg warmers, or maybe one of those reconstructed t-shirts. Six year old boys are easier, my boys always love little boxes to keep treasure in, art supplies and softies that look like monsters.

We are huge fans of Playmobil here.

What a gorgeous panel, I missed seeing this in the stores. Glad for the chance to win it. I really dread shopping and usually my DD helps me out, hehe. I know all the little boys in our family are obsessed with Spiderman, Ironmen etc. I ove toys that inspire kids to use their imagination when they play. Of course books are always great. Does your daughter have any hobbies yet? There are so many beginner kits for painting, beading, scrapbooking etc. that she can explore different interests without investing too much. Good luck!

Thank you for a great giveaway and a chance to win.

The A frame tent from sew mama sew blog a few weeks ago would be a lovely gift! I just might be making one on the sly.

I love Lego for all children and Cricket magazines - http://www.cricketmag.com/
They have magazines for all ages. We also love games night at our house so a new board game (and you can get some great Lego games) would be a great way to introduce a new tradition in your home.
You could also get an iTunes card so they could choose their own music, game or video.
And books - check out your local second hand store, you get more books and if the children don't like them then they haven't been too expensive.

Might I say that is a gorgeous fabric panel. I really love the colors of those birds. What about magazine gift subscritions. the gift the keeps on giving long after christmas day. and gift cards to your local book store.

I've been making look-alike dolls for kids in my family (including my daughter) and they have all been accepted very excitedly! I adapt the pdf patterns I have bought from the Dolls and Daydreams Etsy shop, very reasonably priced patterns, and great instructions! Plus they are a LOT of fun to make and give. I'm a bit addicted, and am trying to make as many as I can for everyone I know now (like my 8 year old nephew, who is VERY into mac computers, I'll be making a doll that looks like him, with it's own little Mac laptop! Heehee)...
Oh and they don't take too long to put together either! I was a beginner when I started, and they have all turned out beautifully! I even made a look-alike of my partner for his birthday!

Thanks for the opportunity! X

My son is 5, and this year we had an extra "junker" bike that we modified as a balance bike. Take off chain and pedals and any connecting gears, and he uses as a scooch (my term) bike to better his balance on the grass and sidewalk. It has really helped him (the training wheels were a nightmare). Got this idea from the Trek youtube videos and it really works. His next bike will be a regular two wheeler and we will have bypassed the training wheels altogether. Another idea (don't know if you have Wii or gaming flatforms) is Toystory for Wii. We call it Toystory4. It's a winner! We have other games, but he always goes back to toystory. As for your daughter, good luck...I have no daughters but isn't 11 like 19 now? How about those bracelet knotting kits. I gave one to my niece along with a list of links in her birthday card that showed her via youtube video on how to make her bracelets with the kit. Good luck with the gifting and I love reading others' comments for future ideas :) Happy Holidays!
