I decided at the last minute to enter Jennifer's
Mini Quilt Challenge over at Ellison Lane Quilts. I was looking around online for blocks I liked and came across a really cool one over at Quilter's Cache that I wanted to try. This block is an original block design by Marcia Hohn called
Origami Star and Cross.
It finished out 25x25 inches. I cannot begin to tell you all the problems I had while making this piece. I learned a lot about quilting and life while making this one.
Anything worth doing is worth taking your time on. (Don't take on paper piecing with a time crunch if you've done little to none in the past!)
Make sure you check things as you go if you want something to work out.
Even the little things that aren't so perfect are part of what makes it a whole (or you!). It has character!
Even with all the mistakes, I like it. A lot. Not that I want to get all religious or anything but it kept popping up in my head that it was like my relationship with God. No matter how screwed up I am, no matter how many mistakes, He loves me just as I am. Warts and all. That's what I think about this piece. I love it, warts and all. So that's what I'm calling it. Warts and All.

It is so pretty! I read somewhere that in the past quilt makers would make one "mistake" in their quilts and it was called a humble block because it was a tribute to God that He is perfect and we are not.
I'm super impressed with the paper piecing! It came out lovely just as it is.
I think it looks fabulous. God bless your Warts and All :)
As a paper piecer myself, I think you have made a lovely mini!!
Love the colours.
It looks amazing!! The shape is beautiful and it's incredible work. The name is great too :)
Sew pretty! I still haven't paper pieced. One of these days.... I love your color choices, too.

"Warts" makes me think of something not so pretty and that certainly does not apply to your mini.
Ooh! It is lovely. We are always the most critical of our creations!
Great job! It looks pretty amazing to me, and just think, next time paper piecing will be SOOOO much easier after all that you have learnt this time round!
