I was doing so well! I was blogging every day and then life came upon me! Well, summer happened. But I still have lots going on! Yesterday I got goodies in the mail.
These are the red, white and blue fabrics I won from Rachel over at Just Sew Ya'll Know. These were from a haul she got from someone who was unloading all her quilting fabrics. I haven't definitely decided about these yet but I figure it may end up a Veteran's Day quilt since I already missed Memorial Day and July 4th.
Plus I came home with fabric from my visit to deliver quilts and participate in the Roo Bear Run. My aunts hit yard sales and always seem to have picked up some fabric for me. It's not necessarily modern fabrics but it is most often perfect for donation quilts. This time there were some cute cows, and some heart fabric.
There was also a PILE of this fabric with strawberries on it. There's at least 2.5-3 yards of that! Perfect for the back of a small quilt.
I have been busy on my red and white hexie quilt. AND I have designed a quilt around this square...
I had several wonderful comments about it so I came up with a plan, plugged it in my Quilt Design Wizard and we are set to go for a quilt along! I don't have enough of this fabric to do it so I am planning on using some Innocent Crush in Maybe Tangerine and Bubble Burst Turqoise, along with some Erin McMorris Weekends fat quarters I picked up in green. I've got to double check it to make sure it will all jive together, but that's the plan. Now, that being said, here are two things extra to say...
1. This quilt along will not start until at least after next week because we are going to the beach next week and I don't want to leave anyone hanging!
2. This quilt will also incorporate some negative space. For an example of the use of negative space in a quilt, check these wonderful examples done by Film in the Fridge here and here.
Who's up for it?

Your SBS block does have some similarities to my new pattern...keep me posted if you've got a few hours to test this...that is really all it takes.
I see your toes in the fabric picture!
