What Books Would You Buy With $500?

Hello. My name is Melinda and I am a bookaholic. I read. a lot. Hubby got me a Nook for my birthday last week. Not sure I mentioned that. I don't think he really thought it out because there are only so many eBooks that can be borrowed before you have to start buying.
That leads me to Chronicle Books. They are hosting the 2nd annual Happy Haul-idays Giveaway. They are going to give away $500 dollars worth of their books to a blogger, $500 worth of their books to one of the blogger's commenters (so BE SURE TO COMMENT!!!!!), and $500 worth of their books to a charity of the blogger's choice. I decided to enter so I had to choose from their website the $500 worth of books I would get if I won and post them. These are the books I would choose for myself. Yes, I know there are more crafting and kids' books than reading type of books, but that's okay with me!

1. Little Bits Quilting Bee:                      24.95
2. Amy Butler's Style Stitches:               29.95
3. The Doorbells of Florence:                18.95
4. Between the Bridge and the River:     24.95
5. 52 Fun Things to Do in the Car            6.95
6. 52 Rainy Day Activities                        6.95
7. 52 Boredom Busters for Kids              6.95
8. 52 Ways to Make a Difference            6.95
9. 52 Creative Craft Projects                   6.95
10. 52 Great Art Projects for Kids          6.95
11. 52 Christmas activities                       6.95
12. The World Almanac for kids (9-11)  9.95
13. Winter's Night Advent Calendar      10.99
14. Taro Gomi Daily Doodle Calendar   12.99
15. Rock out with Julius journal              12.95
16. Julius! Growth Chart                        12.95

28. The Liberty book of Home Sewing   27.50
29. Lotta Jansdotter's Simple Sewing     24.95
30. Amy Butler's In Stitches                   24.95
                                                           $495.21

Whew!  Now, what charity would I choose? I would choose Community Welcome House in Newnan, GA. The Community Welcome House is an emergency shelter for children and mothers of domestic violence. They often arrive with only the clothes on their backs. Welcome House provides a service to our community that, unfortunately, is often needed. Our Girl Scout troop chose to sponsor them with proceeds from our cookie sales last year and we were very impressed with how they handle their facility.

Remember to comment in case I win. Who knows? Maybe we'll get some book goodies by Christmas! The drawing is December 2nd!

So much fun reading everyone's lists. I really want the "Milk and Cookies" cookbook. Check out my list at Two Kinds of People. Good luck.

You have a great blog. I will definitely be back to check out your tutorials. I get sidetracked from my writing by great sewing projects, so it may not be for a while, since I'm trying to complete my own WIP. I love the Milk & Cookies cookbook, and most of the other books at Chronicle. Thanks for commenting on my list at Two Kinds of People. Good luck.

What an excellent charity you chose! We even have some cross-over on our lists! (I wish I had chosen more crafty books, but I settled for cookery for myself and mainly children's books for the remainder!) Good luck!
