WiP Wednesday

Check in here for a new quiltalong I just started. Further information to come on Friday!
WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

I'm linking up at Lee's! Take a few minutes to check out everyone's progress!
New Projects:
Dining room chair recover
I started working on recovering my dining room chairs. The staples in these things are unreal, but here's the change thus far!
The before is actually on the right and the after is on the left. If you don't usually come by my blog, a good friend from my quilt guild picked up that Amy Butler upholstery fabric for me at a yard sale; seven yards for $15! Can't beat that! So far I've gotten two of four chairs done in between quilting and cleaning. And yes, hubbie already told me I'd have to replace the rug since it no longer matches!

Bottled Rainbows
Mitzi is going to lead our quilting guild in the Bottled Rainbows quilt, so I used my Sew Fresh Fabrics gift certificate I won from AnneMarie at genXquilters to pick up the needed Kona solids.

Can I just say, Sew Fresh Fabrics was great! I mentioned that our quilting guild was doing this quilt and they worked with us so we could order a ton of material for everyone. They are just fabulous.

And since I was already ordering, and Peg and Becca are simply a dream to work with, I went ahead and ordered these.

I've been loving Joel Dewberry's Heirloom fabrics. Mitzi asked me which colorway I ordered. Well, I didn't exactly do it that way. I looked at each of the specific patterns and ordered the one I liked that best! They'll probably end up in two different quilts anyway. But I just love them.

Ongoing projects:
Embroidery 101: I've got the picture drawn and I've only just started embroidering it.

Skill Builder Sampler: no recent progress. There is a new block but it calls for a focus fabric in the center and I don't really have anything in my Skill Builder fabrics I want to focus on so I'm going to make a little store run.

Red and White Hexie Quilt (my design): Working on adding some white around each of the designs so I can start to see it come together and figure out placement of the design pieces. No, those aren't pink pieces. They're white; I used a couple of sheets of hot pink card stock to make templates.
Darn! What is it about putting pictures in a blog that makes you see mistakes? Don't see it? Stop looking then. I'll fix it before I get any farther along in it!

Completed projects:
We have completion on some quilts! I created a quickie quillow for a birthday gift for a friend's child. It's blogged about here.

Also completed is my Christmas quilt for the Riley Blake contest. It has been posted on the website and I will do a more complete post about this tomorrow.

Projects calling my name
Charm Pack quilt: needs border, back, quilting and binding
String quilt: needs more blocks, back, quilting, and binding
Grandma's garden hexie quilt: needs some love and some finishing!

I'm impressed by how much you can accomplish in a week! These days I'm lucky if I get one or two things sewn up in a week. Ha! :)

Your Christmas quilt makes me want to sing Christmas songs and do a little dance! SO cute!!

I don't know what it is about pictures on a computer, but I have found that it is the BEST way for me to find the right layout and catch mistakes. Who knows... ?

Great work on everything! I can't WAIT to see your bottled rainbow!!! SO FUN! you will love it!

Wow you have been very busy, again. Darn having to find a new rug, lol.
I like your Joel Dewberry fabric choices. I've been thinking about hyst buying the ones I like rather than the whole colourway.
Taking photosof projects and looking at them on the computer is great for picking up mistakes - as long as it's not too late otherwise it's just downright frustrating!

Your red & white hexies are wonderful. I can't wait to see how it evolves.

Everything you're working on is just divine!

I'm making some quilts for children and am very tempted to make them into a quillow, but I'm stuck. I'll have to read how you did it to see if I can get past my hang-up. :)

I love your Riley Blake quilt design!
